After the charades of soccer last week and me getting emotional over Manchester City, let's talk about basketball. I am a HUGE Boston Celtics fan, have been my whole life. This is a transitional period in our history because we are working towards the future, so I don't expect much success in the near future. There is a shining light at the end of this current dark tunnel. This light is named Ben Simmons. Ben Simmons is the best player in the world under the age of 21. Ben Simmons is an 18 year old prospect who plays for LSU. Ben Simmons is the undisputed number one pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. You may ask yourself, "But Javier, the Celtics are in playoff position, they can't get the number one pick." To those, I give you this nugget of information. The Celtics have the draft pick of the Brooklyn Nets. The Brooklyn Nets, are awful. The third worst team in the NBA right now type of awful. We have their pick, with no restrictions, therefore, we have a BIG TIME chance at getting Mr. Ben Simmons. I mean, come on, just look at how perfect this looks....

Ben Simmons has dominated college basketball so far. He is averaging 19.3 PPG, 14.5 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2 SPG, AND 1 BPG. This is an 18 year old kid who is 6'11 AND PLAYS EVERY DAMN POSITION, SPECIFICALLY SMALL FORWARD, WHICH THE CELTICS DESPERATELY NEED. Life is good as a Celtics fan. Life is really good. But that is enough of my worshipping of this grown man-child. Until the next time we meet...

Hey there my crazy little fanatics. We are here to discuss one thing and one thing only, and that is sports. Now, the bulk of this blog will be soccer and basketball because those are my two favorite sports. I am a Manchester City and Boston Celtics fan. If you don't like that, let me just reminisce on the greatest moment in the history of Earth...

Isn't it beautiful ladies and gentlemen? Doesn't it just send shivers down your spine? Nothing will ever feel better than listening to the commentary of this joyous moment. "AGUEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" " I swear you'll never see anything like this ever again."
For those of you who don't know, this single goal won City their first ever league championship, on the last day of the season, while they were down two points to their hated rivals Manchester United (isn't it just lovely Patrick?)
That was about three and a half years ago. As we stand right now, City has won another title since and are currently in first place, absolutely dominating in domestic play. I know, I know, this post was basically a recap of Manchester City history, which I will admit isn't very large. We are a club that has become dominant only recently due to the money of our owner, but I became a fan for a different reason. I found a piece of myself in the club. It was never about prestige or how dominant they were, I was just a kid who turned on the tv one day and saw this club with some great looking jerseys playing. They weren't a big club and in fact, I'm pretty sure that season we ended up in 10th place that season. This was the 2008-2009 season for anyone wondering. I watched a young team that played together and had heart, had passion. This was before the Aguero era. At the time the squad only had players like Robinho, Elano, Jo (the greatest Brazilian trio ever people) <--- Please don't believe that, they were absolutely awful. I had to suffer with that, I deserve spending 56 million on Kevin De Bruyne. This was a team with promise and I was hooked from that moment onwards. That was 6 or 7 years ago. Since then I've seen some great stars like Aguero, Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne join the team. I was always a fan of the younger guys who would carry the next era of great greatness and saw young upstarts like Jack Rodwell, Adam Johnson (do not google his infamy please), Nastasić, Guidetti, and sadly, even Marcos Lopes (I miss him so much, damn you Monaco). Now, none of these guys are world class by any means (although Nastasic has a shot at it with another of my favorite clubs, Shalke). I love this club with the burning passion of a thousand suns. We WILL win the league this year and I look forward to talking about it with all of you. Until we meet again.
